Abstract: Objective: To study the role of a nurse in caring for patients with gastrointestinal diseases. Material and methods: The study included patients with gastrointesti nal diseases with different disease progressions and nurs es with different levels of education. Group 1 consisted of 85 patients with complicated peptic ulcer disease, Group 2 - 83 patients with uncomplicated gastrointestinal diseas es who underwent therapeutic training at a health school for patients with gastrointestinal diseases. Results: One of the main psychological problems observed in 100% of patients is a decrease in emotional background. In this re gard, nursing care is of particular importance, since after discharge from the hospital, the patient will have to follow a diet and daily routine, and the nurse’s responsibility is to convey to the patient the importance of following these rules. Redistribution of responsibilities in the field of pre vention and independent admission of nursing personnel makes medical care more accessible, which improves the quality of primary and secondary prevention. Conclu sions: A patient’s recovery in a hospital depends not only on a doctor’s competently selected treatment, but also on properly organized nursing care.
