In individuals infected with COVID-19, histomorphometric analysis of all structural components of the pancreas revealed a significant increase in age-related sclerotic and trophic changes. This indicates that in COVID-19 infection, the functional areas of the pancreas increased 1.4–2.4 times compared to the control group, with major changes occurring due to atrophic and sclerotic alterations. Morphometric studies primarily showed enlargement of pancreatic acinar structures, Langerhans islets, and stromal components compared to controls [p2,3].en_US
