Abstract

Constipation is a major symptom of gastrointestinal tract, a condition associated with defe­ cation disorder and incomplete emptying of the intes­ tine. Constipation is not a self-contained disease, but a symptom of malfunctions of the body, diseases and fail­ ures in the functioning of various systems. Constipation is diagnosed in 30-50% of adults and 5-20% of children. Older people are five times more likely to have it than younger people. The causes of the problem are poor nu­ trition, taking some medications, infectious diseases and serious pathologies that can cause chronic constipation.
