The importance of cognitive-behavioral therapy in irritable bowel syndrome and the achievement of the desired result in a short time are stated. Introduction: Functional gastrointestinal diseases remain one of the most serious and incompletely resolved problems of modern medicine [10,9,1,7]. In terms of morbidity, they occupy a leading position in general therapeutic and gastroenterological practice. According to the World Gastroenterology Organization, gastrointestinal diseases occur in 30% of the adult European population, and abdominal pain is its main cause. Approximately 20-50% of these cases are associated with the manifestation of irritable bowel syndrome. The prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome in the world is on average 10-20% of the general population [10, 9]. en_US
