The article analyzes the results of examination and treatment of 119 patients with acute intestinal
obstruction of non-tumor etiology. The syndrome of intestinal insufficiency in acute intestinal obstruction
becomes the initial link in a severe pathological process that causes catastrophically increasing metabolic
changes with the development of multiple organ failure against this background and leading to the death
of the patient. Therefore, after eliminating the cause of AIO, complex treatment should include the
prevention of SCI and endogenous intoxication syndrome. Timely and adequate enteral measures are an
important stage in the complex treatment of patients with acute intestinal obstruction and prevent
intestinal failure syndrome and improve treatment outcomes. Conducted enteral methods of correction
allowed to reduce the incidence of postoperative complications from 34,1% to 12,8%, and deaths from
7,1% to 3,2%.
