dc.description.abstract This paper examines two types of bone connections: continuous connections and discontinuous (synovial) connections. It demonstrates that the articular disc and meniscus are cartilaginous plates of varying shapes located between the articular surfaces of the articulating bones, which do not quite match each other. The discs and menisci shift during joint movement, smoothing out the unevenness of the articulating surfaces , and also act as shock absorbers. en_US
