dc.description.abstract The liver is essential for processing chemicals, medications, and detoxifying the body, but it is highly vulnerable to damage from toxic substances. Toxic hepatitis, caused by exposure to industrial chemicals like carbon tetrachloride, can lead to acute or chronic liver failure, resembling viral hepatitis in clinical presentation. The aim of this study was to induce acute toxic hepatitis in rats using carbon tetrachloride and treat them with a complex of gossypol and sodium salt of glycyrrhizic acid, as well as Carsil, a pharmacopoeial drug. The study focused on evaluating biochemical markers of liver function, such as total protein, glucose, liver enzymes (ALT, AST), and cholesterol levels. Results showed that both treatments significantly improved liver function, with reductions in liver enzyme levels and improvements in protein synthesis, glucose metabolism, and cholesterol levels, compared to untreated controls. These findings suggest that gossypolGlycyrrhizic acid sodium salt complex and Carsil may be effective adjunctive treatments for acute toxic hepatitis. The study emphasizes the need for clinical trials to further evaluate these treatments in human subjects and explore their mechanisms of action, long-term efficacy, and compatibility with other liver therapies. Further research and development of new therapeutic strategies for liver diseases are crucial for improving patient outcomes. en_US
